This is the first post of the “We Have A Latte To Talk About” Series! I am so excited to share myself with everyone, from my opinions to my beliefs. For you to understand the voice behind my blog. I want you to dive deep into who I am. Let’s get started ladies and gents;) This week we have an interview with Victoria & a refreshing hibiscus iced latte.

But first… What is “We Have A Latte To Talk About”

Every week I will come out with a post for this series that will have two elements. The first will be me discussing an issue, it could be an interview with me, or me telling a story. Hence the “we have a lot to talk about part”. This week it’s an interview with Victoria. The second will be a latte recipe, one that you can enjoy while reading my post, and that I will be enjoying while writing my post. Try the hibiscus latte below, hint hint. I guess this series is a time for us to get intimate, tune into how I view the world so you can better understand my voice on this blog.

The Talk: Interview with Victoria

This week we have an interview with Victoria by AnnaStella Cozen, Victoria’s adored sister. She asks me questions about why I created the blog and for whom. And, of course we have some fun questions mixed in there.

What inspired you to start Crumbs on the Vanity?

I have so many ideas about everything, from food to fashion to… everything. I wanted to share these ideas, and find people who like them. People like me. I think everyone should share their creative side, it makes us unique, and I think it would be a waste of intelligence not to. Imagine everything that could exist in the world if everyone just shared their ideas. Sure, a lot of them would just end up being forgotten, unfortunately, but a lot of them would turn into amazing things. How do you think we got to where we are today?

What are three words people would use to describe you?

Well, what people would describe me as, and what I would describe myself as are probably different. I think creative, passionate and driven. Okay fine, I’m also a little bossy, which isn’t a bad thing, it just needs to be used the right way. Sometimes it’s a struggle if I’m being honest. I just like things to perfect okay! Oh wait, did I put perfectionist in there?

What makes your blog and style unique?

The biggest thing that makes my blog unique is my voice. It’s authentic and recognisable. You can read my blog for its content, or you can read my blog as a story. If you want to learn how to make sweet potato fries come on over, but if you want to read narrative and be brought into my universe, you’re just as welcome.

A lot of content is just so Victoria, it’s unique to my personality and opinions about things. That’s why I have an Oh so Victoria category on my blog! The phrase “Oh So Victoria” can be used when someone says or does something JUST LIKE I would do. Like eat whipped cream 24/7 or use the funniest snapchat filters for special occasion photos. Like for mom’s birthday last week… it will make a great family video collection trust me.

What is a meal you could eat every day?

I want to preface by saying two things. First, whipped cream is my baby, I adore it. Second, does a whole avocado count?

A lot of my favorite foods like salmon, sweet potatoes and every dessert on the planet, are incredibly delicious but not really an every day kind of food. So, I would say mixed greens with burrata and half an avocado, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic. Or, cereal with milk in a mug.

Name two makeup and two skincare necessities?

For makeup I would say a tinted lip balm and color correcting illuminating skin tint. For skincare, it would be a luxury night oil and exfoliating scrub.

What is an “Oh so Victoria” quote?

“Let me do it.” But not in like a “you’re terrible at this let me do it instead” way, but in a “I just want to do everything ” way. Admittedly it tends to come out a little harsh. Sorry, to all those who have every baked with me and wanted to pipe the frosting, and I didn’t let them.

Who’s your audience?

Anyone who’s curious to get to know me. Also, anyone who wants to try new and creative recipes. Or who wants a second, or third, or hundredth opinion on skincare. Anyone who wants to see my fashion designs. Anyone who wants to dive into great narrative.

What’s your absolute favorite store and why?

This is too hard. I love Vroman’s bookstore, I could spend all my time there. I love looking at all the books, and turning the pages of the unopened ones. There’s an excitement to buying a new book, and not knowing everything that’s inside. Also, I think everyone also knows I love to shop, that’s a given. Moving on.

What are two condiments that truly make something taste better?

Balsamic reduction and spicy aioli (for my poke). Done and done.

What’s your favorite part of your daily routine?

Nowadays it’s having dinner with the family! I also love my morning walks and my 20 step nightly skincare routine. Nah just kidding it’s only 12.

What’s your least favorite fashion trend?

Drop crotch pants. Hold on, let me go cringe for a minute. Also, old socks and Birkenstocks, I’m sorry but whoever invented that was just trying to convince themselves it looked publicly acceptable. It doesn’t.

What’s your future store name?

Victoria Cozen. How do you think Louis Vuitton and Chanel came up with their name?

The Latte: Hibiscus Iced Latte

This hibiscus iced latte is tart, sweet and absolutely refreshing on a hot summer day. It’s creamy from the milk, but has a cooling effect from the ice and floral tea. The addition of honey makes this drink syrupy sweet, and the edible flowers just make it well… pretty.

  • Hibiscus tea bags
  • Hot water
  • Milk or cream
  • Ice
  • Honey
  • Edible flowers (optional)

Hibiscus Iced Latte

  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 2 iced lattes 1x

Description

A refreshing and floral hibiscus latte sweetened with honey and served over ice.


Scale

Ingredients

2 cups of water

4 hibiscus tea bags

1 cup of milk

2 tablespoons raw honey

2 cups ice

2 tablespoons edible flowers (optional)


Instructions

  1. Steep 4 tea bags in 2 cups of boiling water. Let steep for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in 2 tablespoons of raw honey until completely dissolved.
  3. Let tea cool in the refrigerator or in room temperature.
  4. When tea is cool, take two mason jars and place one cup of ice in each.
  5. Pour one cup of tea in each jar.
  6. Pour 1/2 cup of milk or cream over iced tea.
  7. Top each iced latte with 1 tablespoon of edible flowers.

When I say these are the best taquitos I’ve ever had, I really mean THEY ARE THE BEST. The first time I made these sweet potato and corn taquitos I shared them with my friends, and I held my breath as they tasted them, worried that they wouldn’t like them.
