If I had to pick a makeup product I couldn’t live without, it would be lipstick. The color of your lipstick can represent your personality. It can reveal your mood and emotions. It can send messages that words can’t. I believe that unlike other products, you can never have too many lipsticks. Each shade, sheen, sparkle and texture is used for different times and different places. A red lipstick is not just a red lipstick. It can have blue undertones or orange undertones, it can be matte or glossy, it cab be a balm or a stain. Every lipstick is absolutely, undeniably unique, and you deserve to have them all. Here are my favorites from my lipstick collection.
There is one type of lipstick I think everyone needs: one shade darker than your natural lip color. This is your nude, this is your every day lipstick, this is your no lipstick, lipstick. It should not be chalky nor too glossy. It should glide right onto to your lips and look natural.
1. Clinique Chubby Stick in GRAPED UP
WHO? The Blank Canvas
WHAT? This is a nourishing tinted lip balm. This shade is MY nude. It’s one shade darker than my lip color. It’s smooth but not shimmery. It makes your lips look naturally pouty and healthy. Choose one shade darker than your natural color and fly with it.

WHERE? Anywhere.
HOW? Use it with a lip balm or evenAS s a lip balm. Keep it with you at all times. You can wear it with or without makeup and it will enhance your natural lip.
2. Sisley Phyto Lip Twist in CHESTNUT
WHO? The Innocent Beauty
WHAT? A twist lipstick that combines lip care, shine and comfort. It glides on beautifully and is the perfect balance of matte and shine. The color is a deep nude with a burnt rose tone. This is a few shades darker than my natural lip color so I like to wear it as a captivating yet natural look.
WHEN? From Day to Night, it looks natural with light makeup and subtly bold with a dark smokey eye.
WHERE? From the shopping mall to moody bars.
HOW? Swipe it on without needing a mirror. It goes on smooth like a lip balm and the pointy tip makes for a clean application.
3. Sisley Paris Phyto Lip Shine in SHEER PLUM
WHO? The Troublemaker
WHAT? A fun and bold lipstick with a hint of shimmer. It is colorful yet sheer. This color is magenta with a little glitter to enhance your sparkle. This was the first purchase of my current lipstick collection.
WHEN? A fun day out. This lipstick complements a good laugh and is meant for the talkative lady who is confident and busy creating trouble.
WHERE? The beach, the backstage, the bedroom.
HOW? Since its sheer, the application is no fail, no mess. You can barely feel it on your lips, its so natural.
4. Tom Ford Soleil Neige Lip Balm in BAIE D’HIVER
WHO? The Twisted Sister
WHAT? A moisturising lip balm that provides color and glow. This shade is a dark mauve/ brown with a pearl finish. It’s a very unique color, it’s intense but doesn’t distract from the other features on your face.
WHEN? A beautiful and unique shade for winter/fall and night time. It’s mysterious and seductive without being too bright.
WHERE? A dark restaurant, concert or party. It’s dark but won’t leave a stain on your glass;)
HOW? What I love about this lipstick is that it’s clutch size. It fits in any purse or pocket, and you can swipe it on without anyone ever noticing.
5. Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in PSYCHEDLIC CHILI
WHO? The Natural Seductress
WHAT? A liquid based lip stain that gives up to 10 hours of lasting color. It’s rich, creamy and comfortable. It doesn’t make your lips feel tight or cracked. This shade is a mellow red with slight orange and pink tones.
WHEN? This shade works for any season. It’s bright for summer and bold for winter. It’s best used at night or at an event. Quite captivating when the light hits it.
WHERE? I would wear this to any wedding, gala or fancy restaurant. If you’re a boss at work, wear this with your favorite pantsuit to up your power woman game.
HOW? Apply directly onto your lips with a mirror. Since it’s a stain you don’t want to draw outside the lines on this one. It looks best when you line your lips with a similar shade for optimal definition.
6. Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Lip in ROSERIN
WHO? The Smirking Devil
WHAT? An ultra moisturising lipstick that provides radiant color. It makes for the perfect pout, this color is a rosy plum. Not too matte due to the moisturising effect, but not shimmery either. It’s very natural.
WHEN? It is particularly beautiful in the fall and winter, it’s warm and rusty.
WHERE? There’s no right and wrong place. It looks good on a happy face, or one with an attitude.
HOW? For a subtle pout during the day, dab it on your lips and slightly blend out with your finger. For a night look generously swipe it on your lips and voila!
7. Laura Mercier Velours Lovers Lipstick in MON CHÉRI
WHO? The Show Off
WHAT? A vibrant, high impact color with a satin finish. This is the ultimate red. Not too orange and not too blue. It’s classic but stays youthful and healthy. This is the only bright red in my lipstick collection.
WHEN? Depends what kind of girl you are. If you’re the show off, wear it whenever you’re feeling confident, which could be all the time. It this is a bold look for you, wear it when no one will expect it, at a special occasion.
WHERE? During the day with bold sunglasses and crisp white outfit for a classic beach look. At night with a black dress and sparkly gold earrings to be a black tie beauty.
HOW? I think this lipstick looks beautiful with all natural, barely there makeup for day time. It also looks sexy with a smokey eye. Reapply as it fades.
8. Guerlain Custom Lipstick in ROSE SATIN
WHO? The Graceful Ghost
WHAT? A customisable lipstick available is three finishes: satin, matte and shine. Pick your color, finish and then pick your case. This shade is a satin dusty rose shade.
WHEN? This a natural rosy shade, so it can be used whenever a nude would be used. It looks effortless but still shows that you care about your appearance. It’s an elegant daytime shade.

9. Dior Addict Lip Tattoo in NATURAL ROSEWOOD
WHO? The Yearning Girl
WHAT? A lip tint that stains lips for up to 10 hours. It feels weightless and gives a bare-lip sensation. Surprise, surprise, we have another rosy shade. This time with a darker brown tone.
WHEN? I think this lipstick is convenient for a busy day when you don’t want to keep reapplying lipstick; or when you’re eating out. It stains your lips but doesn’t leave a layer of lipstick; you can eat, drink, talk and you won’t even feel like you have lipstick on!
WHERE? Anywhere you don’t want to leave a lip stain;) restaurant, trying on clothes at shops and… maybe for a kiss or two.
HOW? Use a mirror because this lipstick DOES stain, as its name entails. Once it dries you can apply lip balm on top to lock in moisture and add shine.
10. NARS Afterglow Lip Balm in Orgasm
WHO? The Secretly Glamorous
WHAT? A moisturising lip balm with a subtle tint of color and a pearlescent glitter effect. This pink shade is sweet and glittery, it’s vibrant and eye catching without much color.
WHEN? This balm is great for when you want a subtly glamorous glow during the day. You can even make it the last step of your skincare routine.
WHERE? Wear it to the pool or to class, somewhere you don’t want to have a rich or bright color, but you still want to be noticed. It is the most sheer from my lipstick collection but not the least glamorous.
HOW? Use it alone or on top of a matte pink or nude lipstick.
